An Evening of Music with Andy Tan

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 7:00PM

On Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 7:00PM, Watermelon Music and violinist/composer Andy Tan will present an evening of violin music in a presentation of our violin and viola inventory.  We hope this event will enable area string instructors and players of all abilities to experience our extensive offering of violins and violas.  Tan will perform 10-12 short excerpts on a variety of violins and violas, permitting attendees to hear the range of instruments we have available in a relaxed, hands-on environment.  JR Violins (of Rhode Island) and Kremona Instruments (Bulgaria) will be sending a further assortment of Master-level instruments specifically to be seen and heard at this event.

The excerpts will be passages from standard violin repertoire (Bach and Handel sonatas; Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, Bruch & Mendelssohn concertos; and various show pieces by Kreisler and Elgar.)  The excerpts will be followed by a 3-octave G Major scale and a D Major arpeggio, enabling a fair comparison between the various instruments.  This clinic is designed to demonstrate the tonal characteristics and playability of our current inventory of fine violins and violas.

Questions and comments will be welcomed and attendees are encouraged to try out any of the featured instruments after the clinic.
